Our Commitment

Herdy Co. Meats and Fine Foods is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its regulations, including the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).

We are committed to providing an accessible website and online shopping experience for all customers, including those who use assistive technologies.

Accessibility Standards

We aim to conform with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, as required under Ontario's Information and Communications Standards. Where possible, we also strive to meet newer WCAG recommendations (such as WCAG 2.1 or 2.2) to improve usability for everyone.

Measures We Take

To support accessibility on our website, we work to:

• Provide text alternatives (alt text) for images of our products where meaningful.
• Ensure the site can be navigated using a keyboard.
• Use clear headings, readable fonts, and sufficient colour contrast.
• Structure pages so they work with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
• Make forms as clear and usable as possible, with visible labels, helpful error messages and keyboard support.
• Provide accessible contact options so customers can reach us if they encounter barriers.

Our website is custom-built, which lets us correct accessibility issues directly rather than waiting on a third-party platform. We review content and markup as we update the site, and accessibility feedback goes straight to the people who maintain it.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some third-party elements are not fully under our control. The clearest example on this site is the Google Maps panel in our footer, whose interface we cannot modify. Our full address is also written out as ordinary text beside it, so no information is available only through the map.
